Alas, as much as I love you readers, I cannot go on. I hate staring at computer screens; it's as simple as that. Perhaps I will resume sharing my loveliness with you all at a later time, but for now, I shall gently put aside Queen of Hearts.

So some preliminary stills for Tim Burton's new Alice in Wonderland came out in March. What made me wait so long to post the links? Well, I finally got around to finishing the actual book (though not the sequel) about half an hour ago. (Love.) I had never seen the Disney version, so the book really lent itself to absolute, well, wonder for me. I had to imagine it all up, except for John Tenniel's pleasing little graphic touches. Now, having actually read the book first, I'm eager to see what both Disney and Tim Burton do with it.

Measure...Measure Your Life in Cupcaaaaaaakes...
"The thought that life should be savored and not taken too seriously first occurred to me when I ate a cupcake from Billy's Bakery in New York City. The cake was yellow and vanilla, crowned with pink buttercream frosting. The sprinkles had settled in between the frosting's hardened peaks, and the cupcakes wrapper would not peel off at first, but I made peace with the cupcake's imperfection and allowed myself to fully enjoy it's delicious flavor. The next morning, I woke up with the taste of pink on my tongue and an appreciation for the best cupcake I had ever eaten. It could not rival a world-famous Magnolia Bakery or Cupcake Café cupcake in terms of appearance, but its simplicity made it extraordinary. Life is this cupcake."

The Best of the Betsey
All right, I know liking Betsey Johnson is sooo clichéd. But what's not to like? She has addressed every type of girly-girliness at one point or another with her fabulous party frocks: whimsical girly-girliness, magical girly-girliness, nostalgic girly-girliness, wistful girly-girliness, chic girly-girliness, empowered girly-girliness, happy girly-girliness, sad girly-girliness. So if you, like myself, are a girly-girl - well, you've got all your bases covered.
If you aren't, go back to not liking Betsey Johnson and we'll just have to respect our differences.

Wayne's World: A Thought
I think perhaps I was Wayne Thiebaud in my last life. Of course, that would not make much sense given that Wayne Thiebaud is still alive. But I do believe he understands something that I, too, understand but so often struggle to express: that things always taste better with our eyes than with our tastebuds.
I once read in a book that we are always happiest in that split second before we tear open the wrapping paper and reveal the present. Like with Heisenberg's uncertainty principle, anything could be inside; the possibilities are infinite. Of course, that is precisely what drives us to open the present when we know that even the best present in the world is bound by its own limitations. So we eat the apple and we fall from Grace.
